Art smocks can be jolly tricky things to get yourselves into. I mean, it’s hard to tell which way up they go, let alone get your arm round behind you to tie yourself in (especially if that arm went through the armhole the wrong way!)
Which is why my ears pricked up (just before we got the paints out) at the sound of helpful words such as, ‘I can help you,’
and ‘Turn round and I’ll do it up.’
Not to mention, ‘It goes this way up; look!’
and possibly even, ‘Ooh that tickles!’
All those helping hands!
And now here’s a question for you. 21 children in the class. How many helping hands altogether?
