“Not so long ago, before she could even speak words…..”
So begins the cautionary tale of Trixie and her Knuffle Bunny.
So, not so long ago, before she could even speak words, Trixie (and Knuffle Bunny) went on an errand (that’s a job or a task) with her daddy…..
to the launderette.
Trixie ‘helped’…..
her daddy put the clothes into the machine.
Oh oh!
She even got to put the money into the machine.
(Did you spot it yet?)
Well off they went, back home to Mummy. But on the way…..
Trixie realised something. What do you think she realised?
Yes, she realised that Knuffle Bunny was lost.
Maybe she even realised that Knuffle Bunny was in the washing machine.
The clue to the biggest problem of course was revealed right on the very first page.
She could not find her bunny but she could not speak yet. So of course she could not tell her daddy what the problem was. She tried…..
but her daddy did not understand what she was saying.
She tried harder. She screamed…..
she went ‘boneless’…..
and of course by the time they got home, Daddy was unhappy too!
Poor Daddy. Poor Trixie!
Of course, Mummy immediately knew what was up (speaking as a mummy myself, mummies usually do!)
‘Where’s Knuffle Bunny?’ she asked.
Well off they all ran, straight back to the launderette, asfastastheycouldgo. Daddy hunted and hunted everywhere – but Knuffle Bunny was nowhere to be seen. So Daddy looked again. Properly this time.
And so…..
Knuffle Bunny…..
eventually was found.
Ah yes, you noticed.
Trixie’s very first words!
PS Mo Willems wrote the original story of Knuffle Bunny.
